Long Term Weight Loss

First let's talk about what not to choose for long term weight loss. I think it's important to go over the wrong choices because they are made so often, and they are the reason that so many people struggle with their weight in the first place!


Don't Choose


1. Diet Pills - You should never use diet pills. They are a complete waste of time and money. Not only do they not help you lose weight over the long term, they also can actually cause you to gain weight because of what they do to your metabolism.


2. Low Calorie Diets - Low calorie diets (or "starvation diets" as I like to call them) are the problem, not the solution. They just flat out don't work. All they do is put your body into "starvation mode" where you'll be burning more muscle than fat. Eventually you won't be able to take starving yourself any longer and you'll give up on the diet and guess what, you'll gain all of that weight back. You'll gain back fat in place of the muscle you lost! Low calorie diets never work for long term fat loss.


3. Low Carb Diets - While low carb diets are more effective than low calorie diets and there are some good lessons to learn from them. They are too restrictive to really be successful for long term weight loss. The problem is, most people just can't stick with a low carb diet. People just love carbs too much! Instead of cutting out all of the carbs, it's a better idea to cut out the bad carbs, and stick with the good carbs.


What Should You Choose?


1. A diet you can stick with over the long haul.


2. A diet that is easy to follow.


3. A diet that is not too restrictive.


4. A diet that keeps your metabolism boosted to burn fat faster.


5. A diet you can start right now! Procrastination is your worst enemy.
